Eco Church, April 2025
Eco Church
The Eco Church Team attended a joint meeting with Norfolk Wildlife Trust churchyard experts and our Diocesan Environmental Officer Barbara Bryant, exploring the difficulties that churches have with regard to managing their churchyards for wildlife. Barbara told us that there is now an expectation that all churchyards are managed in a way that increases biodiversity. It was a very good meeting as it is always encouraging to meet with like-minded people. On the strength of that meeting and in consultation with our Churchwarden Rosie, the Town Clerk Kirsty and the man who cuts the grass, it has been agreed that the banks alongside the path leading to the Town Hall and an area in the top corner between the Town Hall and St Michael’s House, will be left uncut until after our Churches Count on Nature activity day at the beginning of June, to allow small creatures to make use of the long grass and to allow children to experience walking through it on the day.
