Reepham & Wensum Valley Team Churches - at the Heart of the Community

Meet the Turks!

We are delighted to welcome our new Curate Richard Turk and his wife Laura and children Jacob and Hannah to our benefice. Richard and his family moved to Lyng during the June half term holiday. Here they give us a brief introduction.

“Hi, we’re the Turks: Richard, Laura, Jacob and Hannah. After Richard’s two years of training for ordination, we’re looking forward to joining the team in the Reepham and Wensum Valley benefice. Richard grew up in Brighton, and Laura in Lincolnshire and Hampshire. We met at university in Norwich, where we both studied history, although generally different periods. Laura went on to train as a teacher, and is now a deputy head. We are both bellringers, and this is something that Jacob and Hannah have started now too. We all enjoy music, and being outside: one of the things we missed most during lockdown was our annual walking holiday in Pembrokeshire. Richard enjoys photography, even if he isn’t the most skilled photographer, and likes to combine it with his interest in history. As a family, we enjoy the Harry Potter stories (books and films), and Richard is hoping that the children will enjoy the Lord of the Rings as much… We’re sure that over time you’ll get to know us better as we settle in and get to know you too.

Richard is due to be ordained in Norwich cathedral on Sunday 27th June at 11.30am.

We will be holding a Welcome Picnic at Rookery Farm, Church Lane, Reepham from 12pm on Sunday 4th July.

Everyone is welcome, so please do pop along and say hello!
