Reepham & Wensum Valley Team Churches - at the Heart of the Community

Carbon Footprint

Eco Church

Thanks to all of you who attended Earth Hour and pledged to do something positive for the planet. We hope to make this an annual event in Reepham. If you were unable to attend but would like to make a pledge, the tree of pledges is now in St Mary’s for you to add to. This is the time of year when I ask you to assess your annual carbon footprint by using the WWF Footprint Calculator. Put www.footprint.wwf.org.uk into your search engine and follow through the questions. If your answer is 100%, your carbon footprint is average for the UK, less than 100% means you are using less carbon than the average household, the idea being to try and reduce your carbon use year-on-year. As a church we are within sight of completing our Silver Award as we hope to register as a Fair Trade Church shortly, with a view to promoting Fair Trade Fortnight to the community in September. The final thing that needs to be done is a litter pick round Reepham. Anyone interested in taking part, please contact Rachel (871000 or rachel.42rr@btinternet.com). You will need a rubbish bag, disposable gloves and if possible a grab stick.

Notices

Sunday 21st April Café Church is our more informal service starting at 10.30am in St Michael’s. There will be tea, coffee, juice, croissants and muffins, as well as papers to read from 10 o’clock.

The following Café Church will be on 5th May, as there will be a Benefice Confirmation service at Lyng on the 19th May, so there will be no service in Reepham on that day.

The Benefice APCM will be held at Reepham Sixth Form College at 7pm on Wednesday 1st May. All are welcome to attend.

Christian Aid envelopes will not be delivered to our doors this year. Please pick up your envelope from St Mary’s, St Michael’s or the Methodist Church from 5th May. Christian Aid Week is from 12th – 18th May. Envelopes can also be collected from Motts, the Post Office or the Bircham. Please return filled envelopes to Motts or the Post Office during that week.

A second Churchwarden is needed for Reepham, please consider prayerfully whether you could fill this role. Also Reepham needs a PCC Secretary; ask Rosie for details.

A message from Helen, Emma Rossetti’s sister:

In January this year, my wonderful sister Emma was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. Very, very sadly, much sooner than anyone expected, and only a few days after her 50th birthday, she passed away in March. We are devastated. Very little is known about this horrible disease – they do not know why people get it, they do not know how to treat it, they do not know why it affects different people in different ways, there is no cure. Please follow this link https://www.memorygiving.com/emmaelizabethrossetti if you would like to give a donation in Emma’s memory to help support the work of the Motor Neurone Disease Association. This charity works to improve research into Motor Neurone Disease as well as supporting people that are currently suffering with the disease. Thank you.
