Words of Light and Hope from Sue Page

Words of Light and Hope for  Passion Sunday

Servant King,

Help us to worship you in the way that You served us;
By doing the work of a slave, by offering a welcome to strangers,

By coming alongside those who suffer And by sharing the burdens of those who struggle.
May these hands that are lifted in worship be similarly active in loving service, which is our freedom and fulfilment, as Your followers

Amen

“Nothing worth doing is completed in our lifetime,
therefore we must be saved by hope.
Nothing true or beautiful or good makes complete sense
in any immediate context of history; there we must be
saved by faith.
Nothing we do, however virtuous, can be accomplished
alone; therefore we are saved by love.
No virtuous act is quite as virtuous from the standpoint
of our friend or foe as from our own standpoint.
Therefore we must be saved by the final form of love,
which is forgiveness!

Reinhold Niebuhr

Open up your hands before you and ask God how you
can use what he has given you to bless someone else
today. Repeat often, enjoy seeing God at work and bring
the glory back to God by sharing your stories with others.

“The suffering of the other is my suffering;
my neighbour’s healing is my healing;
my brother’s glory will be my glory!

St. Silouan of Athos

Good Friday
On this day, we have seen it all.
Everything dies.
Life dies.
Death dies.
Everything is done.
Except love.
Only love is not done.
Only love will not die.
Everything is finished except love.
Love bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things.
At some point everything will be done.
Except love.
Love is never done.

Martin Wroe
