Words of Light and Hope for Tony Hawes

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
John 6.35.

Be gentle when you touch Bread.
Let it not lie uncared for…..unwanted.
So often Bread is taken for granted.
There is so much beauty in Bread…..
Beauty of sun and soil. Beauty of patient toil.
Winds and rain have caressed it,
Christ so often blessed it.
Be gentle when you touch Bread.
Old Scottish verse

And then, at table
he took bread
said the blessing
and broke it to share…..
and he was gone…..
but look
we are here
to tell the world,
that we knew Jesus
when he broke the bread.
Jan Sutch Pickard

Put peace into each other’s hands
with loving expectation;
be gentle in your words and ways,
in touch with God’s creation.

Put peace into each other’s hands
like bread we break for sharing;
look people warmly in the eye:
our life is meant for caring.

May all that nourishes and resources your life
bring you daily satisfaction and renewed hope.
May you slow your hurried pace of life
so you can be aware of, and enjoy,
what you too easily take for granted.

May you always be open, willing,
and ready to share your blessings with others.
May you never forget the Generous One
who loves you lavishly and unconditionally.
